OrthoLive what we do:

Cruise Lines – OrthoLive provides the Highest Quality, Board Certified, Specialist MD’s 24/7 – 365 to help support your onboard Clinical teams with diagnosis and plan of care for Medical Emergencies, Acute Injuries, Chronic Conditions, or regularly scheduled appts anywhere in the world. Furthermore, OrthoLive is the only company that acts as a Provider, Payor, and Care Navigator to deliver faster access and negotiation for Shoreside appts, Imaging, Procedures, and Surgical Interventions. OrthoLive will help your team navigate from Acute Episode all the way through to a Surgical negotiation and scheduling if medically necessary. Our Virtual First solution reduces shoreside dependency, erases the costly delays in Healthcare, and allows your team to make more accurate and timely decisions at Sea.

Commercial Shipping/Noncruise Maritime clients – OrthoLive provides a single point solution to diagnose, effectively treat and manage, and care navigate every step of your Crew Members medical needs. We seamlessly intake, triage, and determine what Provider would be the best fit for your crew members. We can resolve lower severity injuries in a very cost effective manner, and for more serious cases we can assess/diagnose and build a plan of care at Sea. Having Speciality level Providers helps skip unnecessary and costly shoreside appts, and keep your Crew Members out of the ER when possible.

Why is choosing a company that Specializes in Maritime medicine important?

When choosing a Telemedicine/Shoreside coordination vendor your company should see if interests, motivation, experience, and care levels align with your company. OrthoLive/HealthcareLive understands the unique demands of the Maritime industry.

Legal aspects – Jones Act, Longshoreman Act, Work Comp, the litigious nature of maritime medicine, MMI, Fit to Sail/Fly, delays in care, etc… OrthoLive understands your unique positioning, defensive medicine, company needs, and more.

Cost factors – OrthoLive also takes into consideration cost factors such as disembarkation, deviations, procedures performed in home countries, Virtual options such as Physical Therapy at Sea, direct Surgical negotiations, and reducing unnecessary ER visits. OrthoLive is also a very unique company in that we will directly partner with your company if you would like us to take on Risk, create a Joint Venture, and champion a Shared Savings model of doing business. We believe in our processes, our clinical knowledge, our ability to maximize savings, and our care navigation. Because of our confidence in ourselves we are excited to put our money where our mouth is, and partner with our clients on unique pricing models. Let us know your goals, your plans, your current processes and costs, and we can work together to come up with creative, cost effective solutions.

Challenging nature of performing Maritime Medicine – Performing effective Maritime Medicine is challenging, and takes knowledge and experience. OrthoLive/HealthcareLive embraces these challenges and our Care Team of Industry leading Specialist MD’s gives us a tangible advantage over companies that do not have access to that level of expertise. Maritime Medicine has geographic limitations, accessibility limitations, cost factors, legal challenges, and the most pressing are situations where timely decisions are a matter of life or death. We embrace those challenges, we work with your teams to make great decisions, and ultimately we understand that you are literally placing the life and well being of your Crew or Passengers in our hands.
